Poor Man’s Lasagna, Contest Winner and New Contest!

Last week Debbie W. commented on one of my Facebook posts asking if I would re-post a recipe I’d posted sometime back titled Poor Man’s Lasagna.  Of course I’m happy to oblige, so here I’ve posted it at the bottom of this blog! (That’s over-usage of the word ‘post’!)  It’s funny, but I bet I haven’t made this recipe in 6 or 8 years!  My boys really liked it when they were little, but you know how you burn out on stuff after a while?  I think that’s probably what happened…I burned them out on Poor Man’s Lasagna!

Now, in other news, I know you’re waiting on the edge of your seat to see who wins the DVD collection of 15 Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote Cartoon Favorites and the copy of The Original Adventures of Hank the Cowdog…so let me pull a name out of the hat for that winner before I think up a new contest!  Hold on…here we go….

And the winner of the DVD collection of 15 Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote Cartoon Favorites and the copy of The Original Adventures of Hank the Cowdog is AubreyB!!!!  Aubrey…shoot me an e-mail at marcialmcclure@cs.com with your snail mail address and I’ll get your prizes in the mail to you!

And now it’s time for another silly Marcia contest!  Let’s see…as Winnie the Pooh always says, “Think…think…think.”  In fact, this video clip is sooooooooooooooo ME!!!!  Furthermore, though I do enjoy honey in moderation, I’m not a wicked-crazy honey fan like Pooh…I’m more of an Olive Garden fan!  Hey, yeah!  That’s it!  This week’s contest is for a $25 gift certificate the Olive Garden!  Yay!  Just leave a comment on why you love Winnie the Pooh, Honey, or the Olive Garden and you’ll be entered to win!  I love it!  A recipe for Poor Man’s Lasagna comes with a chance to win a gift card to the Olive Garden?  I love when a plan accidentally comes together!

Poor Man’s Lasagna

Ingredients:

1 lb. of Lean Ground Beef (Crumbled and browned.)
5 Green Onions
(Chopped and sautéed with meat.)
½ t. Garlic Powder
1 t. Salt
1 t. Sugar
¼ t. Pepper
2—8 oz. Cans of Tomato Sauce
1—8oz. Package of Cream Cheese
(Softened.)
1 c. Grated Cheddar Cheese
1 Cup Sour Cream
12 oz Large Egg Noodles
(Cooked.)

Brown ground beef adding onions to sauté.  To meat mixture add garlic powder, salt, sugar, pepper and tomato sauce.  In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to combine cream cheese, cheese and sour cream.  Mix in meat mixture, then add cooked noodles.  Pour into a 9×13 glass baking dish and back at 350 for 25 minutes.

I love Pooh, probably because he loves to eat and so do I! I love to quote great Poohisms, like “think, think” and “we’ll be friends forever, just wait and see!”

  2. Lisa W says:

Winnie the Pooh is so simple and refreshing, and so huggable. Not a huge fan of honey, but love Olive Garden. Especially the salad and bread sticks:)

  3. Katie says:

I get so nostalgic thinking of Winnie the Pooh. Sometimes I just break into a rendition of “I’m just a little black rain cloud.” And my girls look at me like, “what are you singing, Mom?” I think it is sad that I don’t have any Winnie the Pooh movies for them, because my favorites are the old ones, and the collection is hard to come by.
As far as Olive Garden goes, that is my Husband’s and my favorite restaurant. Have you ever tried the Leaning Tower, frozen?(virgin of course:)

  4. Sandy says:

Aaaaaah…the Olive Garden. Who could resist that never-ending pasta bowl??? And those breadsticks??? YUM.

Thanks for another great contest, Marcia! I just bought Passion Room, and it made me so happy knowing I had a new book of yours to read. =)

  5. Julie G says:

The Olive Garden… Mmmm Mouth is watering already for the salad and the breadsticks. Oh, and that chicken and shrimp carbonara dish. Mmmm….

  6. Holli Gamero says:

I have always loved Winnie the Pooh. Both of my little kids have Pooh bear bedding sets. I don’t know exactly why I love it so much, I just do.

  7. Chelsea B. says:

I love Winnie the Pooh because he is so adorable and sweet and kind. Also, I can’t wait to see the new movie!
I love honey on biscuits 🙂
I’ve only eaten at Olive Garden once, but oh, my gosh, it was fantastic! I got the chicken fettuccine. Mmmmm…. Excuse me, I need to go eat now 😉

  8. Lindsey Olmstead says:

Mmm!! I love Olive Garden. There is just something about Italian food. It is definitely one of my favorites. The one bad thing though is that I’m never daring enough when I go there. I always get the same thing there chicken parmigiana. Yum! But I guess why mess up a good thing. Haha!

  9. Megan E says:

I am about 8 years older than my baby brother, and I was quite the “2nd mom” to him growing up … I still love him to pieces even though we are both “grown up”!! 🙂 When he was little, he watched the video of Winnie the Pooh so many times my whole family has it memorized to this day. When my oldest son was born, everything Pooh was readily available, and he was brought up on it too. At 15, he still has the stuffed Pooh Bear my mom brought when he was born. So now, well, every time I think of the show, I think of my brother and my son (who incidentally looks like his uncle and who I call by his uncle’s name often). I just love Winnie the Pooh!!!! 🙂

  10. Kirsten says:

First off, Honey. I LOVE the use of honey in so many things, especially my homemade bread recipe. Sorry to say, but my homemade bread beats anyone else’s I’ve tried! If you ask nice, I’ll even give it to you! 🙂

Second, the Olive Garden is my #1 favorite place to eat! I could never get enough of their stuffed mushrooms, breadsticks, Zuppa Pascana, and salad! YUM!

Pooh! Who doesn’t love the cuddly bear we all grew up with?! So many euphoric memories of watching the cartoons…

  11. Whitney C. says:

Olive Garden….Gotta love the salad and breadsticks! Oh and who can resist pasta and cheese!

  14. Megan A says:

I love Olive Garden!! When I was in high school if you qualified to run at the state competition in track and cross country you got to eat at Olive Garden with the team before the competition so it has so many fun memories for me!!

Hmm it appears like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any recommendations for novice blog writers? I’d genuinely
    appreciate it.

Feel free to surf to my weblog here (Sadye)
