Or Course Kevin Didn’t Know! (And Contest Stuff, Too!)

Since the release of the beautiful new edition of The Prairie Prince, (or should I say handsome new edition), I’ve been riddled with the question, “Did Kevin know he was going to be on the cover?”  Well, the answer to that burning question is, “Of course Kevin didn’t know!”  What?  Do you think I’m crazy?  He probably would’ve axed the idea before it was even all the way out of my mouth if I’d told him ahead of time.

Nope…poor Kevin didn’t find out that HE was the image of The Prairie Prince (as of course he always has been to me) until the moment I showed him the announcement on the website!  His reaction was a mixture of horror, surprise, being flattered, embarrassment, and incredible understanding and patience toward his wife (me)!

I asked him what he would’ve done if I had asked his permission first, and he confessed he would’ve moved heaven and earth to change my mind.  But now that it’s done…he understands that I love him sooooooooooooooo much and is flattered that I think of him as handsome even though he doesn’t see himself that way or as worthy to be on a book cover.  (That’s part of Kevin’s charm…the fact that he doesn’t see himself the way the rest of us girls do!)

And so…there you have it!  Nope…he didn’t know before hand!  And YES…I LOVE the new cover!  I have a ton of stories to share about all the new covers, but I’m kind of squished for time today…so I’ll save those for later!

Meanwhile…I’m soooooooo behind on my random contest stuff!  The winner of the FTD Spring Bouquet Arrangement is Sally Timmons!  E-mail me your address at marcialmcclure@cs.com, Sally…and I’ll get that ordered for you!

As for a new contest…hmmm…let me think.  Ooo!  How about this…a $25 Michael’s gift card (Michael’s the craft store, of course)!  Does that sound fun?  I have all my custom framing done there, and usually end up picking up a few other things!  So…pop in a comment below about your crafty projects for Spring (or for any other reason) and you’ll be entered to win!  My friend Jan sent me a Hobby Lobby gift card for Christmas and I used it just the other day to purchase some crafting supplies I need for a project!  (Thanks, Jan!)  Gift cards are so fun, right?

What a fun story to share about the cover. Prairie Prince was the first book of yours that I read and I instantly fell in love!!

Love craftiness! I’m making Easter bracelets for my 3 little girls and myself. Then on to Mother’s day gifts and more hand made jewelry!

I have way too many craft projects going on. A gift card would be heaven sent! Lets see….I made a list yesterday so that I wouldn’t forget any but I just realized I didn’t add that I want to make a new spring wreath.

    Frames is a great idea!!

  14. Becca O. says:

Oh what fun!!! I just had baby girl #3 and I’m wanting to put her name on the wall with some mod-podged wooden letters (to match her two sisters’ names that are already on the wall). That’s the current project on the to-do list. I’m also working on her “mommy quilt.” I made each of my other two girls a special quilt with a pocket to hold a little dolly, and a hand-embroidered love note from me on one of the quilt squares. They call it their “mommy quilt.” 🙂

  15. AubreyB says:

I just picked up some fabric from JoAnn’s remnant section to make a little dress or skirt for my 2 year old girl, but I could always use more crafting supplies! 🙂

  16. I have a ton of crafts that I want to make… a birthday board for my mom, a child’s rocking chair for me and one for my sister, crochet projects, wreaths, aprons, baby stuff, a tent for my darling son with a matching sleeping bag… I could go on and on!

  17. Cindy says:

I always have some crafts going that uses yarn.

  18. Sylvia Anderson says:

Not only is Kevin very good looking, he is also a very nice man. It was so fun to have him sit and visit with us on the 23rd and give us a chance to get to know him a bit too. And I was impressed that he knew my name as soon as he saw me that night. I think he is almost as cool as you are Marcia.

  19. Kirsten says:

I LOVE that you put your husband on a cover! He’s a very handsome man! My husband would have never let me do that! You’re bravery is to be admired! On the other note; Michael’s is about the only true craft store worth going to around here. The other 2 either don’t have what I need or are too expensive. We’re very limited in this area! That’s a great giveaway!

  20. Britney Stapley says:

I like that you husband is on the cover! That is one of the best ones I’ve seen! My crafts? Making a ton of skirts! I’m thinking about making some to donate in the future!

  21. Teya Peck says:

I think the new book cover is genious! Of course I pictured my husband but who didn’t. Craft hmmmm, yes gift cards are awesome cause you pick what you want. I get the flower wire to make gum paste flowers. I know not exciting, but that”s what I get unless I make clothes or quilts.
Others are way more creative, I just wanted to comment on the awesome book cover!

  22. Whitney C. says:

Sweet! I have been organizing my house like a crazed lady and would love some cute baskets or stuff to make boxes cute!

  23. Carol Knight says:

LOVE all the new book covers!

  24. Alysha J says:

I just love Michaels! It seems like I always have a craft or two that I’m working on. Right now I am cross-stitching a flower wall hanging and making myself some jewelry. I have to keep mysel busy whil I watch a movie so it’s either eating junk food or doing somthing crafty!

  25. Karen Spencer says:

How fun!!! K. Lou has it right. That was ALWAYS my motto growing up. Better to ask forgiveness than permission…..wait….that’s still my motto. LOL! Have just recently found your books. Have read one, and am starting on another. Bought a 3-in-1 book from B&N, westerns, I believe. Loved the first, (Kissing Cousins) and I’m sure I will love the next 3 too. Will have to get the book with your hubby on the cover after I’m done with the others. I would love to win the Michaels card. I’ve wanted to try polymer clay, but haven’t bought it yet. I would try it out for sure if I won the card!!! Have a great day!!

  26. Jelaire Topham says:

I love the new cover! As I said on facebook, I want to buy new copies just for the wonderful new covers!
I’m focusing on learning to sew this spring. I’m making matching skirts for my two sisters, my five nieces and myself. They are going to be soo cute! I’m also collecting fabric for a quilt that I’m really excited about! It’s a project for a friend who has helped me through a lot because she reminds me that life is never as dark as it feels! It’s going to be an autumny quilt so I’m very slowly collecting the fabric. Oh! And then there are the five million crocheting projects I’m working on including an afghan for my “brother” who is in the Marine Corps. He doesn’t know about that yet…it’s a surprise! And yes, gift cards are the best! People don’t think I’m serious when I say that’s what I want for my birthday.

  27. Sarah Sandiford says:

Have sooo many projects that I’m in the middle of…mostly projects for my kids. Then will move on to home decor projects.

  30. Deborah F. says:

I make custom handmade jewelry for friends and family as gifts and LOVE Michaels selection of beads and pendants. It’s a fun way for me to use my creative juices and make thoughtful gifts at the same time. Kind of like your writing stories for your friends as gifts! 🙂

  31. Michelle says:

I would love to win this gift card! You should see the amount of DIY projects I have on Pinterest!

  32. I am crocheting a lacy shawl right now..It it taking forever, but I love how it is turnign out!
