My Books in Chronological Order-Best Guess! ;)

A few weeks ago, a reader wrote and asked me for a list of my books in “when written” Chronological Order.  She wanted to start from the beginning and read them from first written to most current.  My Mother-in-Law has always liked to read them in chrono order, too, and so I thought it might be kind of fun/challenging to see if I could come up with a pretty accurate list for the reader who had requested it, as well as myself, and anyone else who might want to read my books in that specific manner.

Well, believe it or not, when I sat down to type up the list going by the order in which I wrote then instead of publication date, I found it kind of hard to remember exactly which order I’d written them in!  I’m serious!  It was weird.  There are certain books I can easily remember which year they were written because of certain chaotic events that happened at the same time.

For instance, The Visions of Ransom Lake was written in 1997.  I began writing it in Albuquerque and finished it in Ferndale, Washington.  So that one was easy.  But most of them were kind of a swirl in my mind.

However, I did manage to come up with a pretty accurate chronological order.  There are some exceptions such as the fact that e-books such as Weathered Too Young, Saphyre Snow and The Highwayman of Tanglewood were eventually lengthened from novella length into novels when I was able to scrounge up some time.  So keep in mind that this list includes when the originals were written.  I did the best that I could without calling a million people and asking them what the original date was that I gifted them the manuscripts.  (Okay…maybe not a million people.)

Anyway, since I have recently received several requests for a chronological list, I thought I’d just slap one up on my blog for fun!  And as a side note, if you’re one of the less-than-a-million people I should’ve called first and you have dates that will help me out, just e-mail me at and I’ll fix anything I goofed up on this list!

Meanwhile, maybe you’ll find this a teeny bit interesting if you’ve ever wanted to read my books in the order in which they were written!  (Keep in mind that “order in which they were written” does not necessarily mean it was the “order in which the plot/story/characters etc. were conceived!)

Excellent! It makes me wonder how much time I have spent reading them… seeing as I have read the entire list more than once… some of them many, many times!
Which randomly reminds me of a bookmark my sister gave me when I was a kid. It said, “Some of my best friends are books” – probably because we spent every summer reading anything we could get our hands on and let’s face it I STILL always need a bookmark!
I have made some pretty good friends with your books! LOVE THEM ;^)

  4. Teya Peck says:

I own every one of these in ebook form and am now working on my paper collection. I love physical books, but they’ve become my best friends since my roommate introduced me to them with Highwayman of Tanglewood (still one of my favorites, to this day, after reading all your books!) so I had to have a copy of all of them that I could take wherever I wanted!!! Love to see this list though!

  6. Krystle Henrie says:

  7. Dawn says:

I have read the entire list but it wasn’t in any order. I have started reading them all again- but this time I am actually reading a couple of them at the same time. I am reading The Time of Aspen Falls with my husband and reading Beneath The Honeysuckle Vine by myself. The third time around I will use this list, thanks. You are totally amazing to write such perfect books.

  8. Sylvia Anderson says:

Ditto to everything everyone has alread said. However, I have to have an entire bookshelf just for your books! I love them all. But my very favorite is . . . . . (drum roll) . . . . . every book on the list! I can’t help it Marcia. You are the best! C-ya in March.

  9. Sandy says:

Thank you for this list! I had no idea Desert Fire was your first full-length novel because I’ve always gone by your list of when the books were published. Desert Fire is one of my very favorites! (I have such a weakness for all your westerns!) I am completely addicted to your writing and love to immerse myself in your books, but if I had to pick my favorites, I’d say:

Western: The Visions of Ransom Lake and Sweet Cherry Ray (my favorite heroine!) and Light of the Lover’s Moon

    Contemporary: Love Me

Regency-ish: Shackles of Honor and The Highwayman of Tanglewood

Other Historical Time Period: Beneath the Honeysuckle Vine and A Crimson Frost

Of course they’re ALL amazing. Thanks for all the swoons and smiles!
