I always ask for an extra bottle of syrup so I can take one home 🙂

I have to say I spent today with my mom and daughter today shopping for Christmas presents. I was actually floored by the fact that my daughter who is only 3 yrs old told me her list….it was only like 5 things and the rest was a list of all the things she needed for everyone else….Now that’s where I felt wonderful.
It was a moment where I looked her and asked…”you know you’re 3 right?”
where she responded “yes, silly mommy”.
    The things kids do 🙂

    Welcome Back BTW 🙂

My husband has a clean bill of health after a year of colon cancer surgeries and treatment!!! Can’t get much more wonderful than that! The day after his final surgery, which was an unsuccessful resection of his colon, (he has a colostomy) I found the following email from my son. I just wished I had found it pre-make-up application. We were all feeling quite disappointed that the surgery hadn’t worked.

    Mom –

21 Reasons We Have to be Thankful:

    1. He’s not in a wheelchair.
    2. He doesn’t have Alzheimer’s
    3. He didn’t have a stroke.
    4. He’s not paralyzed.
    5. He doesn’t have a terminal illness.
    6. He doesn’t have MS, or Parkinson’s.
    7. He doesn’t drink.
    8. He doesn’t smoke.
    9. He doesn’t gamble.
    10. He doesn’t steal.
    11. He doesn’t abuse.
    12. He’s honest.
    13. He has integrity.
    14. He works hard.
    15. He’s kind to everyone.
    16. He goes to Church with his wife.
    17. He’s always happy.
    18. He’s there when people need him to be, and asks little in return.
    19. He knows what’s right and he stands up for it.
    20. He was cleared of cancer.
    21. During his later high school years he got a job at a store called Pik-Kwik where he met and married the love of his life, had two kids, and turned out to be the best father or husband anyone could ever ask for.

I won’t say that he doesn’t deserve better. I’ve always wished and prayed that life is a little easier and better for dad because he’s such a good man that he’s more than earned for it to be. But with that comes the strength he has to be resilient when he needs to be. It broke my heart that he didn’t know the operation wasn’t successful. It broke my heart that he looked for the thing to make sure it
was gone and we knew that it wasn’t. But it’s a small price to pay that he’s still with us. Leave it to dad to play the cards that he’s dealt – and he’ll do it with the good grace we all know he has and are envious of. We prayed that he would get through the cancer and we got it – let’s not forget that.

    “Whatever tears at us
    whatever holds us down
and if nothing can be done
we’ll make the best of what’s around.”

  30. Kacee says:

We have a tradition of taking the boys out for breakfast on holidays and they keep going back to Cracker Barrel, but afterwards they huddle around me and try to steer me out of the store because I love to browse through their shop! It has been a fun place to make memories with them!

  31. Something wonderful…. I’m so excited for winter to be here! Can’t wait to take my daughter sledding now that she is finally starting to get a bit older. She’s only been to a restaurant a couple times, I’d love to take her to Cracker Barrel. At least there you know you can get a good solid meal that tastes sooooo good. And I’d probably even be able to get her a little souvenir too! Love them!

  32. Tabitha says:

Saying something wonderful @ this time of year is way to easy! With Thanksgiving just around the corner I could leave a list of all the things I’m thankful for. Or I could talk about wonderful family Christmas traditions that are just around the corner (yeehaw!!!) However, as I sit at the computer making googly eyes @ my 5 month old baby girl, I think I will leave a message about how wonderful it is to have a house full of girls! We have four beautiful girls. The oldest just turned 12 in Sept. She set a goal for her PP Faith project to do 10 hrs of temple work! Other than the 2 wks the temple was closed for cleaning she hasn’t missed a week of going. (Yes, if your wondering she really is AMAZING). I am so proud of her for being such a wonderful example to her younger sisters. I am truly blessed!!!

  33. Jade Pratt says:

Don’t love randomness?….I LOVE randomness!!! It keeps things interesting;) and I love your randomness, it is simply wonderful.:)

  34. Tacia Eliason says:

So …. my wonderful thing for this week/last week was when we did a random act of service for a guy in our Singles ward/congregation. On Halloween he had come over and expressed how he had broken one of his only two bowls. My roommate is amazing and told me how we should buy him another one. So we did and I baked Cookies to fill it with before we dropped it off with him.
There are a few things that make it wonderful:
    1. It was service
    2. My roommate for coming up with the idea
    3. He is a REALLY great guy! 😉
    4. He said he liked my cookies
    5. It’s giving me new ideas on how to have a mind focussed on others.

Another random thing that is wonderful, is my bedroom wall, which has autumn leaves taped up around it, the autumn wreath my mom made me that matches the blanket that is coving my bed! MY ROOM IS FULL OF AUTUMN!!!!! PLUS!!!! my roommate says she will let me borrow her copy of your new book “Haunting of Autumn Lake”. So happy!
    Thanks!
P.S. we have printed out the cover of “The Vision of Ransom Lake” and taped it too our bedroom door and we were wondering if that could be made into a poster size! (just thought i’d throw that in… it never hurts to ask)

  35. Hmmmm… Well, I took my husband to the Cracker Barrel for the first time (they don’t have them out in Chicago where he grew up) and he fell in love! One of the things he really liked about me when we started dating was my southern, spicy home-cooking (lots of meat and potatoes!). This of course made it so easy for him to love the simple, delicious home-style cooking of the Cracker Barrel. When I was little, I used to equate Cracker Barrel with road trips, cause we would usually find one off the freeway and go there to eat -and I LOVED playing with all the little brainteaser toys at the tables! I hadn’t honestly been to a Cracker Barrel for a really long time until a couple months ago when I took my husband and our little girl there for the first time 🙂 I would love to go back for our anniversary next month!!!!!

  36. Renae says:

My Wonderful…. I have been blessed with a wonderful husband for the last 18 years and we have been blessed with 7 wonderful kids. I have never eaten at a Cracker Barrel but it sounds fun.

  37. Paige Viehweg says:

I drive past a cracker barrel every day on my way to work.. and I have never been there to eat. Something must be wrong with me!!!

So my something wonderful would be to win.. and then to take myself right on over there, and check it out!!

(even if I don’t win, I am still going to have to try it out!!)

  38. Heidi Murray says:

Nothing better than family. Especially with the holidays, just days away!

  39. Laura says:

With four kids every day is filled with randomness! These days they are also filled with “was that an elf I saw outside the window? I hope he didn’t see you fighting. Santa wouldn’t be happy.” I am so bad to use Christmas that way! Maybe I just need to go to CB without my kids!

  40. Chaleese says:

I LOVE Cracker Barrel! I’ve always wanted to buy something from the darling gift shop! I love the old fashioness of it all, my favorite! I think I was born in the wrong time. 😉
I’ve been married almost 8 years. We have been together since I was 16! High school sweethearts. Couldn’t imagine my life without him. 🙂

PS- I LOVE all your amazing books. Reading The Haunting of Autumn Lake right now. 🙂

  41. Marie V. says:

How about a recipe for one of my favorite Cream Cheese Frosting:

    1 8 oz. cream cheese
1/4 cup soft butter or margerine. I actually prefer Parkay.
    1 1/4 cup powdered sugar
    3/4 TBSP cinnamon
    3/4 TBSP Pumpkin Spice
    1/4 TBSP Nutmeg

Place cream cheese, margerine/butter in a bowl. Cut up and mix with a fork, and then blend with a mixer. Add in the powdered suger a little bit at a time, about 1/2 cup each time and then mix, until it’s completely mixed in. Add in the spices and mix until it’s completely smooth. Place in the refridgerator for at least 20- 30 minutes to set in a little better.

This is sooo yummy! So Fallish so I thought I’d share it! I make this and put them over homemade cinnmon rolls. But I add in Pumpkin Spice and a little bit of Nutmeg in the roll along with the cinnamon, granulated sugar and brown sugar to repeat the flavors in the frosting! 🙂

  42. Bethany says:

Something wonderful? How about the homemade berry french bread pudding that I made yesterday for FHE and had for breakfast this morning! LOVE it!

  43. Rachael Lundeberg says:

Welcome back! There are so many wonderful things! I don’t know if I can pick just one! Family, friends, home, warmth, health, work, Thanksgiving, presents, shopping, parties, Christmas, cinnamon, stuffing, mail (the fun, personal kind!), hot cocoa, snow, lights, carols, pine…ah! I’m smilng just thinking of all I have and am looking forward to! : )

  44. Kate says:

Welcome back! And i’m guessing things are about to get crazier with the holidays 🙂 I’m so excited for snowy nights walking around the neighborhood warmed by the glow of Christmas lights. Sigh…

  45. Kathryn Merkel says:

I just had a wonderfully busy weekend with my favorite niece who lives a 9 hr drive away & I don’t get to see as often as I like. If we had been lucky enough to run into Bruce Willis, I know we would have gotten a picture with him. Definately slow down, you don’t want to miss that kind of opportunity again, even if it’s in a dream.

  47. aimee evans says:

Something wonderful…my baby has been sick with some type of horrible stomach flu bug…well as you can imagine with it being a baby…everything from top to bottom is a mess. Loads of laundry to do and no rest for my over ocd’d mind. But my sister in law showed up this morning with a box of doughnuts…totally led by spirit to do so…my baby is a dream…my older girls are so sweet and my husband has been ever present, helpful and loving despite my crazy self. Plus I am reading “The fragrance of her name” Brant…sigh…that book is my escape right now. Thanks for creating dreamy characters and romantic stories. I love your books and your creative mind.

  48. Mary Shakespear says:

My daughter had been struggling with her serving in volleyball. They had a tournament on Saturday and because of her constant practice, she left the tournament with the nickname of Serving Queen.

  49. Haley Bonner says:

Well, something wonderful is that I only have four more books to go till I have read all of your wonderful, wonderful works. But, not so wonderful at the same time… =( No more drool worthy heros.

P.S. Thank you for creating clean romance! I love it! You give me hope that there are still chilvarous men out there. =)

  50. Lisa says:

Next week will be wonderful. Thanksgiving with lots of family and camping!! Okay so it’s a camper in an RV park–but there will be a fire with hot dogs, marshmallows, and starbursts. (And yes, you roast the starbursts like a marshmallow–pull it off just before it drips into the fire–Wonderful!!) 🙂
